Team Teaching
The idea of team teaching is comparatively new in the field f education. It is one of the most interesting and potentially significant recent developments in education. It is an organizational structure to improve teaching learning process in classroom. According to M.B. Naik in team teaching method two or more teachers make a plan of the subject co-operatively, carry out it and always evaluate its effect on the students periodically".
Characteristics of Team Teaching.
• It is an instructional arrangement.
• It involves teaching to be conducted by two or more teachers.
• It calls for team spirit in teaching and that benefit the students to the maximum.
• It is a sort of pooling of expertise and resources such as experience, interest, knowledge and skill of teachers.
• It is economical in the sense that it results in more work in less time.
Types of Team Teaching.
I . Team Teaching in the same class period. In it the team members discuss the various aspects of the same topic to be covered in the same class period and share these aspects in tune with the special knowledge area in which each has expertise.
2. Tears Teaching based on specific teaching competencies. In this model units are shared by different teachers not on the basis of subject matter but on the basis of special competencies such as lecturing, demonstrating, guiding, discussing etc.
3. Team Teaching based on specialization. In it members with different subject specializations are responsible for instruction in its totality. They share the content and instructional tasks according to their areas of specialization.
4. Team teaching on relay system. In this, one teacher starts the instructional process. When he completes, another follow and so on. Here the division of work is not based on subject competency or skill. What each teacher does supplements enriches and supports what others have done.
Advantages of team teaching.
1. Quality instruction can be enhanced.
2. It stimulates thought and discussion among teachers.
3. It gives adequate opportunities to the students for free expression.

4. It gives students opportunities to develop human relations essential for social adjustment.
